What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help people heal from the emotional distress caused by traumatic or overwhelming life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR helps the brain process and rewire painful memories so they no longer feel as emotionally intense or disruptive.

What to Expect in EMDR Sessions

During EMDR, your therapist will guide you through a structured process that includes focusing briefly on a distressing memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation—typically through eye movements, tapping, or sounds. This helps your brain reprocess the memory in a way that reduces its emotional charge and allows for healthier beliefs to take root.

EMDR sessions are conducted in a safe, supportive environment at your pace. Many clients report noticeable relief after just a few sessions, though therapy is tailored to your unique experiences and goals. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, or past emotional wounds, EMDR offers a powerful path toward healing and resilience.
